Artist's Comments

This piece is yet another in my "Visions" project: an ongoing exploration of fantasy; pre-Raphaelite; and Victorian classicism inspired images.

This particular image is of Maura, a talented costumer who is collaborating with me on this project. In exchange for her costuming work for me--I photograph her, in her many fabulous costumes. (Frankly--I think I'm the one who's got the best end of the deal! ;-))

Maura has many talents--but one of them is "draping". That girl can taken ANY piece of fabric--and drape it around someone so that it looks unbelievably good. (See this Edwardian gown? It's three pieces of silk, dyed by Maura, and about two minutes of Maura's magic draping!)

While dressing for a shoot of her as Belldandy, I suggested she drape herself--and offered up that wonderful silky fabric (eventually to be used in a gown made so that I can reproduce Waterhouse's "Circe Invidiosa")--and she draped.

As she was leaning over, I noticed how pretty her back was--and chose to shoot her like this. :-)

The backdrop you're looking at was one of my own "digital" backdrops--painted by me, in Corel Painter. The original photo [link] shows her standing in a sea of bags and fabric, with bright mirrors behind her, since this was shot in my tiny livingroom! :-)

Oh...and for those of you who are wondering what the tattoo is of...it's a moon...and a bat. Maura and I both love bats--not because they're creepy--but because they are gentle little creatures who are incredibly beneficial to our ecology--and who are much misunderstood. (To learn more--check out Bat Conservation International! :-))

This is just beautiful, the pose, the color everything. Your work has such an aura about it, very peaceful.

Plus I think the back can be the sexiest part of a woman's body!

A lovely soft image that looks gorgeous in b&w!
I also quite like the contrast between the softness of her skin and the material draped around her, against the dark circle of her tattoo! It adds a little bit extra that works really well!

Thank you!!! :-) I'm not a tattoo fan in general...but I like hers, on her, if that makes sense! :-) And then, there's just something nice, about seeing someone's skin, surrounded by fabric--I know what you mean about that! :D

another great photo :) her skin looks so soft. and i really like frame - it suits perfectly to that shot.
btw, does it really need mature content? :-?
:iconathansor:
Thanks! :-)

As for the mature content...I wasn't sure--and figured that when in doubt, it was best to err on the side of caution! ;-) (To be honest--I don't think that many of the nudes on this site--where none of the "naughty bits" are shown--or where the subject is not overtly sexual--should be labeled "mature content" either... Perhaps, given the young age of many of the viewers here--some people bend over backwards to label anything that even suggests nudity as "mature". Not sure, myself! :-)

(BUT--if I WERE someone who had strict views about what does and doesn't consitute "mature"--and had "do not show mature content" chosen in my Settings/Profile--I would probably be distressed if something wasn't labeled properly! :-))

Thank you!!! :D That's what I'm going for--the whole "peaceful" scene! :-) There's so much negativity in the world--I want to remind people of the good things! :D
