Still another piece in my "Visions" project: an ongoing exploration of fantasy; pre-Raphaelite; and Victorian classicism inspired images. While the original of this image was in color, the more I looked at it, the more it reminded me of some melancholy heroine from a Victorian serial...
With that in mind, I reworked the image, trying to make it look like an illustration from an antique book--one of those illustrations where you're not *quite* sure if it's a drawing/painting, or a photograph...
On thing that I particularly like about this image--well, this costume, in general--is that the neckline is a border of soft reindeer moss.

I wish you didn't grow up so quickly. Oswald can see that ere long he will be too old for the kind of games we can all play, and he feels grown-upness creeping inordiously upon him. But enough of this.

Actually...sorry my comments are so...well...unhelpful?
You give me great lengthy comments and here I am saying 'Yay!' *rolls eyes at self*
But you know how much I love your work...and actually the thought just hit me...do you know of the story of The Cottingly Fairies? And those photos that the girls took? (which I loved!) Some of your b&w photos, like this one, really remind me of the girls in those photos!
<laughs> Not at all--your comments tell me you like my work--and it is, first and foremost, meant to be enjoyed and to provoke an emotional response!
The fact that I have the mind of an instructor--and analyze everything to death--doesn't in any way lessen the value of your comments--it just has to do with how we both approach the world in general. You seem to just enjoy it--we need more people like that!
And yes--I DO know the Cottingly story--and to be compared to the girls in those photos--is perfect! I'm very heavily influenced by that period--and am often consciously trying to recreate that flavor.
So see? You ARE helpful--because you understand what I'm going for!
