I uploaded this yesterday, changed its name, then decided I didn't like it so well as I thought--and deleted it.
This morning, I like it again, but from a new perspective: the memory of an old love. You still feel a bit of the love...you hold on to it, in spite of new loves--and yet, you see them as through a glass, darkly...not their current reality, but an idealized and wispy Romantic Memory.
The model is the lovely Emma, and I've used textures from --specifically, from (one of the abstract painting packages) and ("webbed, vol II).
Enjoy! (And don't be surprised if I delete it again, this evening! I seem to be mighty ambivalent about this piece! )
BTW...she does, in fact, have a tiny tiny bit of a lazy eye--not something you notice in real life, or at least I didn't--but it shows a bit more, in some of the photos I took. I think this one accentuates it a little--but I like the way it makes her look a little more unusual in this image.
Ooh I remember Emma and I love her in blackish & white! It looks like I'm seeing her through a dirty window that she's been sitting at forever, I mean come on the spiders are weaving webs into her hair already! Seriously Sweetie it's gorgeous work I love it!!
Yes--very romanticized--and with only the ghost of reality still clinging to it. Don't we all have one of those memories tucked away, somewhere?

Yep--that's exactly the way I see this image...which was why I wrestled with the title so much. I kept thinking of the song, "Sleepy Jean"--and that line about wiping the sleep out of her eyes...and that made me think of cobwebs, and so I thought of "Mists of Dreams"...but that seemed way too Hivemindish, and then I thought of "Rainy Days and Mondays", because of the whole dirty, rainy window effect...and "Blue Monday" and "Monday Doldrums"...and then decided I didn't like it at all, and deleted it.
I liked it again this morning, though, and remembered Peggy Lee's old song...and the Indigo Girls singing "Ghost" ("I'm in love with your ghost")...and reuploaded it with the new title. I like the new interpretation--but the others are all mixed up in it, still--with the rain and the window and the "sitting at it forever" feeling...so yeah, you managed to pick up on everything I put into it, I think!
It won't fly here, though. My only other two black and whites are my least faved and least visited...and I expect this one will do similarly poorly. Ah well! Sometimes ya gotta be unpopular--it's good for the soul!
(And Emma LOVED it--that's all that REALLY matters! )

Not to mention universal! We've all been there...or will be, at some point!
