The full title of this is: "Eilonwy's Bauble: The Golden Pelydryn", after the Black Cauldron series, by Lloyd Alexander. Eilonwy is the last daughter of Angharad, and is able to make the bauble glow with a brilliant light, by thinking of helping others. She says, of the bauble: "You see things differently in it, clearer, somehow."

There's no special reason for this piece--in fact, I have several photo shoots I should be editing right now, not to mention various house tasks, emails I owe people, things I need to send, etc--but it's a vacation day, and instead of doing any of that, I randomly opened a folder from an old shoot of Maura, as Belldandy, and was practicing color correction...which went very well indeed--but led to my realizing how much this reminded me of Princess Eilonwy--and that I'd rather like to do a textural piece from it--so, here it is. Ah, procrastination! ;)

Sigh, I'll never get my email ;P I like this one - kind of looks like water color.

*does the procrastination dance* Yay!

The only thing I'd suggest for this is that the textures almost obscure her face too much. Other than that, it's gorgeous! The glow around the bauble is just perfect. :D :bulletblue:

Yeah...truthfully, I rarely post things here without letting them "percolate" for a good long while over at my main site...and I honestly haven't decided how I feel about this yet--aside from REALLY liking the glow around the bauble, that is! ;) Well, and I sort of like that it's vaguely reminiscent of da Vinci's "Head of a Young Woman". Kinda sorta, anyway! ;)

I'll know better in a few days if I think it's any good or not! :P

Love this. It's gorgeous in that way that is so particularly YOU.
Huge hugs and lots of love and appreciation. :frail:

O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!

Well THANK you for your very kind words!!! :D I'm delighted you like it that much...especially because I'm still a bit ambivalent about it--haven't really decided whether I like it a lot...or just a little. You know how THAT goes, when you finish a new piece, I'm sure! ;)

LOL!!! Oh well--you, and everyone else, will just have to survive! ;) Glad you enjoyed this one! It's always a bit tough, walking the line between showing too much of the original photo--and not enough...but I liked the bauble on this one, and was feeling kind of spontaneous, so I posted it before I really figured out how I feel about it...and I'll let you guys decide, instead! :-)

Thanks! :) And I owe you several notes and responses...it's just taking me a while to get through the pile right now...*sigh...* That's dA for you--feast or famine!!

How's the whole "no job" thing going, btw?

It's really pretty and the heavy texture overlay gives it a look of an old forgotten painting.

Thanks--that's what I was going for...I'm always torn between my own need to show the face more clearly--and Jack's saying that I need to be less "realistic", and let the photo be more obscured. Sometimes I think I get it right...other times, it's borderline...and much of the time, I fail miserably. (But no one ever gets to SEE those! ;))
