Well, it's the first day of the year, and I started the new year off by sleeping in til 1:30pm, something that astounded me, as I've reached that age where sleeping in isn't an option, no matter HOW much you wish it was!
And no, I didn't sleep in because I was partying the night before...I slept in because I was up until 3am, editing proofs from a shoot I did with

, that day.

She was in town (all the way from the Netherlands!) for a visit with her friend,

, and the two of them spent a productive (if long!

) 9 hour day with me, shooting--and I'm oh-so-pleased with the results!

The best part of the shoot (in my opinion, of course!) was a tribute to the paintings of Dante Gabriel Rossetti--something I've wanted to do for AGES, but hadn't found the right model for. The moment I laid eyes on

, however, I knew she'd be perfect for what I had in mind. And, as it happens, I was right.
I picked up 7ish yards of a wonderful upholstery fabric with a brown satiny pattern on one side, and a pink/red/brown chenille finish on the other, the day before the shoot, and with the fabulous help of *
nightshade13, we draped the fabric over and around her, using safety pins to hold the "dress" in place. *
nightshade13 and I spent the rest of the afternoon congratulating each other on our brilliance--because the costume really looked *that* good. (I hope I can repeat it, someday, without *
nightshade13 's help!

)

We also did a glamour sequence that, so far, is getting more hits than either of the other two sets,

and then a set of *
Cinniuint in a beautiful greeny-blue elvish costume made for her by *
nightshade13.

And what else can I say--except the two young ladies were charming, delightful, excellent company, and a good time was had by all?!
Today, however, I am languid and tired, and just playiing about. I've got the week off, and am hoping that maybe, just maybe, in between working on my new website, marketing materials, and editing shoots, that I'll find some time to do some dA catchup--since I currently have quite a few notes I need to respond to...not to mention 443M, 384C, 31J and 16D to go over. Ugh.
Sadly, my life is, at the moment, mostly taken up with work--either my 9-5 (if only it WERE a mere 9-5!) or with photography--and that leaves little time for more than a brief look-in on dA... I'm sad, because I have so many lovely friends on dA that I miss, and wish I could connect with in a more meaningful way (or indeed--at all!), but unfortunately, at the moment, that's just not possible. I do, however, hope that you are all having a wonderful new year...that you enjoyed the holiday season, and that this coming year is full of joy and blessings for all of you!

(And I TOTALLY agree with you about the Rossetti image--that's probably my favorite, as well!
As for the Elven Queen image...that was actually a bit of an accident--I was getting too much of a hot spot on her forehead, and moved my hair light back a bit--which threw off my lighting ratio, and created dramatic shadows. The effect is kind of cool, though--good for the subject--which is why I left it in the proofs, instead of chucking it!
And you are quite right. It's WONDERFUL to be doing what I love...aside from that pesky little 9-5 thing!
I hope you and your family are doing well, my friend! It's always so good to hear from you!
